When should I see an oral surgeon?
When a tooth cannot be treated, a wisdom tooth is having trouble coming through, the bone needs preparing before an implant, or there is a cyst at the root. An oral surgeon also performs frenectomies and sinus lifts.
Does oral surgery hurt?
Procedures are done under local anesthesia. For complex or multiple procedures, sedation (sleep dentistry) is available.
How long does recovery after surgery take?
It depends on the complexity. After a simple extraction, the socket heals in a few days; after a sinus lift or bone grafting, it takes a few weeks. Your dentist gives you aftercare instructions following the procedure.
Can an extraction be combined with an implant?
In many cases, an implant can be placed immediately after the extraction. This shortens the overall treatment time. Whether this option suits you is decided by the dentist during the consultation.
When is oral surgery done under sedation?
For complex or multiple procedures, a strong fear of the dentist, or a heightened gag reflex. Under sedation, the patient is in a state of deep relaxation.

Good afternoon! I want to thank the surgeon Viacheslav Vasylovych: a very attentive, calm and reliable doctor. The patient, my 80-year-old mom, came out after having 2 teeth removed feeling like she had wings. She said nobody had ever worked with her teeth so gently. I'd like to add: nothing unnecessary, quick, all X-rays taken on the spot (in the treatment room), and a detailed medical history taken before anesthesia. Given the extent of the extraction, I expected it to hurt in the evening, but no, the doctor has a light touch. I recommend him, and thank you!
We came to an appointment with Viacheslav Vasylovych with my 7-year-old son. He saw my son with an urgent problem (there was a fistula on the gum, pus was coming out, his cheek was swollen).
