The anesthesiologist administers the sedation drugs. You breathe on your own: sedation is not general anesthesia.
The general dentist or oral surgeon completes the planned work, which would normally take several regular visits.

Waking up usually takes 10–15 minutes. Keep the day of the procedure free of important tasks and physical exertion.

Good afternoon! I want to thank the surgeon Viacheslav Vasylovych: a very attentive, calm and reliable doctor. The patient, my 80-year-old mom, came out after having 2 teeth removed feeling like she had wings. She said nobody had ever worked with her teeth so gently. I'd like to add: nothing unnecessary, quick, all X-rays taken on the spot (in the treatment room), and a detailed medical history taken before anesthesia. How sedation differs from general anesthesia
Under sedation, you drift into a light medicated sleep: anxiety and fear disappear, and the sound of the instruments does not bother you. Unlike general anesthesia, you keep breathing on your own and your protective reflexes stay intact, so there is no heavy strain on the body. Once the treatment is finished, waking up usually takes 10–15 minutes, with no nausea or severe dizziness. The drugs are certified and hypoallergenic, and the anesthesiologist selects the dosage individually.
Why you should not put off treatment out of fear
Out of fear, many people avoid the dentist for years, and in that time an ordinary cavity turns into pulpitis or periodontitis, and teeth break down to the point of being lost. Under sedation, even neglected cases can be treated in 1–2 visits: you sleep while the general dentist or oral surgeon calmly completes all the planned work.
What determines the cost of treatment under sedation
The cost of sedation depends on how long the treatment takes. Per the price list, an hour of sedation costs 5,500 UAH, and the anesthesiologist consultation before the procedure is 900 UAH. The price of sedation includes the work of the anesthesia team and continuous monitoring. The duration and total are estimated after the exam and the anesthesiologist consultation, so the estimate is known before you start and does not change along the way.
