At what age should a child first see a dentist?
The first checkup is recommended once the first teeth come in, at around one year old. Regular consultations help prevent cavities and get your child used to dental visits.
What if my child is afraid of the dentist?
Our dentists use the Tell-Show-Do method: first they introduce the child to the office and the instruments through play, and only then does treatment begin. For more difficult cases, treatment under sedation is available.
Do cavities in baby teeth need to be treated?
Yes. Baby teeth hold space for the permanent teeth and help shape the bite. An untreated cavity can damage the permanent tooth developing underneath.
How often should a child have a checkup?
Cavities in baby teeth develop faster than in adults. So checkups should be regular, every 6 months. The dentist will suggest a checkup schedule after the consultation.
When is treatment under sedation considered?
When many teeth need treating in one visit, when the child is under 3–4 years old, or in cases of severe fear or a gag reflex. During sedation, an anesthesiologist is by your child's side the whole time.
How much does dental treatment for a child cost?

I really liked this dental office. A pleasant atmosphere and a friendly attitude. I was very worried about how my son (8 years old) would handle an upper lip frenulum procedure (recommended by more than one orthodontist). So we decided to go ahead and didn't regret our choice of place and doctor, Viacheslav Vasylovych. We came to an appointment with Viacheslav Vasylovych with my 7-year-old son. He saw my son with an urgent problem (there was a fistula on the gum, pus was coming out, his cheek was swollen). The doctor first found an approach to the child, explained everything, and removed the little tooth. Everything went great, considering that my son used to be afraid of dentists. Dr. Lesia Volodymyrivna is a very professional doctor. Your children's teeth will stay healthy for a long time. If she treats them, she does it very well, not just quickly so the child doesn't cry. At other dental offices they treated us that way and didn't fully treat the cavities, just to get it over with. Why cavities in baby teeth develop so fast
The enamel on baby teeth is thinner and less mineralized than on adult teeth. So bacteria need less time to damage a tooth. A sugary diet, nighttime bottle feeding, and poor brushing make it worse: a child cannot yet brush properly without a parent's help. Regular checkups help catch cavities early.
How to prepare your child for the visit
Choose a time when your child is well rested and in a good mood, preferably in the morning. Do not say “it won't hurt” or “don't be scared”: children pick up on exactly those worrying words. Do not promise that the dentist will “just take a look” if treatment is planned. The dentist will introduce your child to the office at a calm pace.
