How safe is sedation for a child?

Sedation is offered when a regular appointment is too hard for the child. This may be age under 3–4, severe fear, a bad previous experience or a strong gag reflex. Another reason is the amount of work: many teeth with cavities or root canals, complex oral surgery or the extraction of several teeth.
Sleep dentistry also helps children with developmental differences, for example autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy.
Why not put off treatment if your child is scared
Cavities in baby teeth progress rapidly and quickly reach the nerve. If you wait for the child to "grow into" treatment, the tooth can be lost, and the infection can reach the permanent tooth buds.
