How does treatment with a general dentist start?
With a consultation and an exam. The dentist checks the condition of your teeth and gums, takes an X-ray if needed, and draws up a treatment plan listing the procedures and prices. You get this plan before any treatment starts.
What does general dentistry treat?
Cavities at any stage, pulpitis and periodontitis (through root canal treatment), as well as cosmetic issues: chips, discoloration, and minor defects in the shape of a tooth. More complex cases are treated under a dental microscope.
How often should I see a general dentist for a checkup?
The recommended interval is every 6 months. Regular checkups help catch cavities early, when treatment is simpler, faster, and cheaper.
Does dental treatment hurt?
Treatment is done under local anesthesia. If your teeth are sensitive or you feel anxious, tell your dentist before you start.
When is a tooth treated under a microscope?
In complex cases: hidden or curved canals, retreatment, a broken instrument fragment in the canal, or a suspected root fracture. Whether a microscope is needed is decided by the dentist after the exam.
How much does treatment with a general dentist cost?
