On a 3D scan (CT), the dentist locates the roots and assesses the bone before the extraction.
The dentist selects a local anesthetic. If you are very anxious, the extraction can be done under sedation.
Using a microsurgical instrument, the dentist gently separates the ligaments holding the tooth and removes the tooth or its fragments without rough rocking.
The socket is cleaned of inflamed tissue, rinsed, and a hemostatic agent is placed.
The gum edges are brought together with microsutures so the socket heals faster.

Does a tooth extraction hurt?
Extractions are done under local anesthesia. While the dentist works, you usually feel only light pressure. If you are very anxious, the extraction can be done under sedation (sleep dentistry).
How long does a tooth extraction take?
A simple extraction of a single-rooted tooth takes 15–20 minutes, including the time for the anesthesia to work. A complex (surgical) extraction can take from 40 minutes to an hour.
What can and can't I do after an extraction?
For 2–3 days, do not rinse your mouth vigorously, so you do not wash the blood clot out of the socket. Avoid hot food, steam baths, saunas and intense exercise.
When can an implant be placed after an extraction?
Sometimes the implant is placed in the socket right after the extraction; this is called immediate implant placement. If there was severe inflammation, the dentist waits 2–3 months for the bone to recover before placing the implant.
Can several wisdom teeth be removed in one visit?
Yes, two wisdom teeth on the same side, or all four, can be removed in one appointment. This kind of extraction is best done under sedation.
What happens if I put off an extraction?
A damaged root or chronic inflammation at the tip of the root is a constant source of infection. It can lead to a gum boil, an abscess, bone loss and infection of the neighboring teeth.

Good afternoon! I want to thank the surgeon Viacheslav Vasylovych: a very attentive, calm and reliable doctor. The patient, my 80-year-old mom, came out after having 2 teeth removed feeling like she had wings. She said nobody had ever worked with her teeth so gently. I'd like to add: nothing unnecessary, quick, all X-rays taken on the spot (in the treatment room), and a detailed medical history taken before anesthesia. When a tooth has to be removed
The oral surgeon removes a tooth when it can no longer be saved: the crown is destroyed by decay and the root is not suitable for a prosthesis; an infection (a cyst, granuloma or abscess) does not respond to treatment; the tooth is very loose because of advanced periodontitis; or the root has a vertical fracture or a deep crack after an injury. Sometimes an extraction is needed for orthodontic reasons, to make room before braces or clear aligners, or when an impacted tooth causes pain and swelling.
Simple or complex extraction: what determines the price
The price depends on the complexity. Per the price list, a simple extraction costs from 1,600 to 2,800 UAH. A complex (surgical) extraction, when the tooth is hidden in the bone or gum, grows at an angle or has complex branching roots, costs from 3,600 to 5,500 UAH. Removal of wisdom tooth buds costs from 6,000 to 6,500 UAH. Anesthesia, surgical materials and stitches are already included. The surgeon quotes the exact price after the X-ray, and it does not change during the procedure.
Why preserve the bone if the tooth is being removed anyway
After an extraction, an implant is often planned in place of the tooth, and an implant needs enough bone. That is why the surgeon does not force the tooth out: first the ligaments holding it in the socket are gently separated, and a complex tooth is divided into parts and removed piece by piece. This causes less trauma to the gums and bone, less swelling after the procedure, and faster healing of the socket. An implant specialist consultation will walk you through the options for replacing the tooth.
