Thin retainer

How is a fixed retainer different from a removable tray?
A fixed retainer is a thin metal wire on the inside of the front teeth. It stays in place permanently and cannot be seen from the outside. A removable tray is a clear shell made of durable plastic that is worn over all the teeth at night.
How long do I need to wear a retainer after braces?
The retention period is usually twice as long as the time spent in braces. Adult patients are often advised to keep the fixed retainer permanently so the teeth stay straight.
What should I do if my retainer comes loose?
See your orthodontist as soon as possible to have it re-bonded. Even a few days without it can let a tooth shift. Until your visit, be sure to wear your night tray.
Does a retainer get in the way of speaking or eating?
The wire is very thin, and the composite dots are smooth. It takes 1 to 3 days to get used to, after which you barely notice the retainer.
How do I care for a retainer and a tray?
Brush the retainer with a regular toothbrush and clean the spaces around it with superfloss or a water flosser. Rinse the tray every day with cool water and soap or a children's toothpaste, and store it in its case.
Can I get a retainer if my braces were removed elsewhere?
Yes. Eurozet orthodontists bond retainers and make trays regardless of where you had your treatment.

Why you need a retainer if your teeth are already straight
When the braces come off or the course of clear aligners ends, the teeth are straight but not yet stable. The bone, ligaments and gums around the roots need time to adapt. Without something holding them, the teeth tend to drift back to where they started. That is why retention is just as important a stage as the treatment itself. A thin retainer and a clear night tray are practically invisible, do not affect your speech, and help you keep the result you achieved during treatment.
When you need a new tray or a replacement retainer
Come and see us if your retainer has come loose or been damaged, or if you need a new retention tray. Do not put off the visit: even a few days without it can let a tooth shift. Retention appliances are not only for after braces or clear aligners. They are also used to support and stabilize teeth that have become loose because of periodontal problems. A new tray is made from a digital scan within a few days.
What the cost of retention depends on
You can order a retainer and a tray separately or as a full set for both jaws. A fixed retainer is priced per jaw. The orthodontist decides exactly what you need based on the condition of your teeth after treatment. Prices are fixed per the price list, with no hidden fees.
