What should I bring to an orthodontist consultation?
If you have recent X-rays — a panoramic X-ray or a lateral cephalometric X-ray — bring them along. If you have none, the orthodontist will order the imaging, which you can have done with us.
At what age should a child first see an orthodontist?
The first preventive checkup is recommended at age 6–7, when baby teeth start giving way to permanent ones. This way, problems with jaw growth can be caught in time.
Can an adult have their bite corrected?
Yes, there is no age limit for orthodontic treatment. Braces and clear aligners move teeth in adults just as they do in teenagers.
How long does the consultation take?
The first appointment takes about 30–45 minutes. That is enough for the exam, photo records and a discussion of your options.
Braces or clear aligners: which should I choose?
It depends on how complex your bite is, how discreet you want the appliance to be, and your budget. During the consultation, the orthodontist will compare both options and help you choose the right one.
Why treat my teeth before getting braces?
Teeth are harder to keep clean with braces on. So before the braces go on, it is important to treat any cavities and have a professional cleaning to protect the enamel for the whole course of treatment.

Why you should not put off seeing an orthodontist
A bad bite is not just a matter of looks. It affects how evenly the chewing load is spread, the health of the jaw joints and the condition of the enamel. Crooked teeth are harder to clean, which raises the risk of cavities. Over time, enamel wear and problems with the temporomandibular joint can develop. There is no age limit for treatment: bites are corrected in both teenagers and adults, and a child should see an orthodontist for the first time at age 6–7.
Why the orthodontist needs photo records and X-rays
Photo records are a series of photos of the face from the front and in profile, plus photos of the rows of teeth. From them the orthodontist assesses facial symmetry, the profile and the proportions of the smile, and during treatment compares how the bite is changing. Cephalometric or CT images show the position of the roots and how the jaws relate to each other. Together, this data lets the orthodontist choose an appliance that fits your anatomy: metal, ceramic or self-ligating braces, or clear aligners.
How much it costs to start bite correction
A consultation with a treatment plan costs 500 UAH per the price list. If X-rays are needed, you can have them taken with us; diagnostics prices are also in the price list. After the appointment you get a cost estimate for the whole course, so you can plan your budget in advance. The orthodontic treatment itself can be paid in stages over the whole treatment period, or in installments through PrivatBank. We also see patients under voluntary health insurance programs.
