The dentist removes old restorations, treats any decay and gently prepares the tooth.
An intraoral scanner takes a precise 3D impression of the tooth.
The one-piece crown is milled from a zirconia block on a CAD/CAM machine; this takes 7–10 days. In the meantime you wear a temporary protective crown.
The dentist checks your bite, the contact with neighboring teeth and the color, then cements the crown in place with dental cement.

One solid block
The crown is milled from a single block of zirconium oxide on a CAD/CAM machine.
No metal

How is budget zirconia different from multilayer zirconia?
Budget zirconia is made from a solid, single-shade block of zirconium oxide, which makes it very strong. Multilayer zirconia crowns have a gradient of translucency and color, so they are more often chosen for front teeth.
Is budget zirconia suitable for front teeth?
Yes, it looks better than metal-ceramic. But most often it is chosen for back teeth, where the chewing load is highest.
Does the tooth have to be ground down a lot for a zirconia crown?
No. Zirconium oxide is very strong, so the crown wall can be as thin as 0.6 to 1 mm. That means more of your own tooth is preserved.
How long does it take to make the crown?
Fabrication in the dental lab from a digital 3D scan takes 7 to 10 days. During that time you wear a temporary protective crown.
Why does metal-free zirconia not cause allergies?
Zirconium oxide is bioinert: it does not react with saliva and does not oxidize. So there is no metallic taste in your mouth.
How long does a zirconia crown last?

Quality treatment you don't have to worry about. When they placed two crowns for me, I couldn't tell them apart from my own teeth.
My husband and I take care of our teeth all the time. We were treated at a German dental practice, then a Turkish one, so we have something to compare with. We came to Eurozet with a difficult situation: after the Turkish doctors, the implants weren't taking, and they had to clean twice because small fragments were left after poorly cleaned sites from tooth extractions. They fixed it, cleaned it, the implants took, and only the final touch is left — the crowns. My husband damaged his upper teeth with an angle grinder, and doctors at three other practices didn't know what to do; here they did everything properly, and for half a year now he has been eating perfectly well. I also look after my oral hygiene and my teeth here. I'm satisfied. The office is clean, the staff are young and friendly.

Who a budget zirconia crown is for
This crown is placed when more than half of the tooth has been lost to decay or an injury and a filling will no longer hold. It is a good fit for back teeth, which take the heaviest pressure every day, and for people with an allergy or sensitivity to metal alloys. Budget zirconia is a sensible compromise between price, strength and looks. If you need a smooth color gradient in the smile zone, the dentist will suggest multilayer zirconia.
Is it worth replacing old metal-ceramic with zirconia
Old metal-ceramic and acrylic crowns can darken at the gum line over time and lose their looks. A zirconia crown has no metal framework, so the edge does not darken and there is no metallic taste in your mouth. Zirconium oxide does not react with saliva and does not oxidize, so it does not irritate the gums. An old crown can be replaced using the same digital protocol: removing the old crown, 3D scanning, milling and placement.
Why you should not put off a crown on a root-canal-treated tooth
After root canal treatment a tooth becomes more brittle. Under chewing load it can split lengthwise, and then saving it is much harder. A crown covers the tooth on all sides and protects it from that kind of fracture. While the crown is being made from a digital 3D impression, a temporary protective crown stays on the tooth. So after root canal treatment it is worth discussing with a prosthodontist right away which restoration this particular tooth needs.
